Hear all about these stories in this week's episode of The Second Scoop. I'm finally back home in San Francisco after being away for 3.5 weeks. I just came in from Nashville, Tennessee last night from the NRA Annual Meeting and I had an amazing time. I'll put up a blog post about the show later this week. In this week's episode of The Second Scoop, I chat about the attendance record as well as Mom's Demand Action failed and sad attempt at a protest. The NSSF is also putting on a major anti-straw purchasing media blitz through it's "Don't Lie for the Other Guy" campaign here in California as well as New Jersey and Delaware. I discuss the recent shooting at Wayne Community College in North Carolina (side note, this may have been an LGBT hate crime- we'll see how that story continues to develop) and how if the school hadn't been a gun free zone that perhaps the victim could have had a chance to defend himself from the crazy guy who killed him. Finally, I compiled a bunch of clips of the GOP presidential hopefuls who spoke at the NRA Annual Meeting. Hear what they have to say about our Second Amendment rights. I'm still traveling abroad for vacation but wanted to bring you this week's big gun news while I'm here in London, England. Here are the headlines: 1. Finally, CBS This Morning covers the "Guntry Club" movement cropping up in parts of the nation. This week's full "Second Scoop" video is below: 3.17.15 | Second Scoop: Ammo Ban Update- Dems' full 5.56 ban, #ImUnloading Snoop+Liam, Logan's Hero3/17/2015 Boy oh boy is this week's Second Scoop filled with interesting updates. This week, I discuss the recent half-win over the ATF's AR-15 ammo ban, the continued hypocrisy of Snoop Dogg and Liam Neeson, my new #ImUnloading Campaign, and the story of Brian Aitken, a man who was wrongly jailed in 2010 for firearms violation which was overturned. He hasn't seen his seven year old son since he was born, and he needs legal help. This week's Good Guy with a Gun segment involves an M1 Carbine with a 30 round mag. What's not to like about that! The response to the #ImUnloading Takeover Campaign has been great so far!! Many of you thankfully understood the dry humor in the first video, and this second one is very similar. I'm calling out world champion shooter and First Family of Shooting member Jerry Miculek, to show us his #ImUnloading video! To participate, it's similar to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and really easy to join the cause:
Head to the range this weekend, and make your own #ImUnloading video! As I discussed in this week's episode of The Second Scoop, this new #ImUnloading campaign is led by former rapper and purveyor of gun violence, Snoop Dogg. The campaign is encouraging people to divest their 401Ks of holdings in the firearms industry. It's illogical, and pointless. Snoop Dogg and friends are blaming firearms deaths on gun manufacturers, instead of the people pulling the triggers. Here's the campaign video: One of my fans had an idea, let's take over the #ImUnloading hashtag with our own campaign. To participate, it's similar to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and really easy to join the cause:
Here's my first #ImUnloading video (I couldn't get to the range today, but I will be making a few #ImUnloading vids with live fire soon): So get to the range and make your own #ImUnloading video for everyone to see!
I'll post some of the good #ImUnloading videos and pictures I see on my blog. Let's have fun with this! [Check out the new Second Scoop logo and animated intro!] This week's episode of The Second Scoop ramps up with action from Snoop Dogg joining the anti-gun camp in a 401K divestment campaign called #ImUnloading. I find it super hypocritical that a guy who promoted gun violence in his music and made millions off of it is now blaming gun companies for gun deaths. I'm sure Snoop's music played no role. Here's another ridiculous example of blaming the tool and not the person. If we take drunk driving deaths, do we blame the alcohol or the car manufacturer for the deaths? Of course not. I don't understand how gun companies should be held responsible for the actions of individuals, particularly when the gun industry speaks out against the illegal use of firearms. The Washington Post reports on a study showing the while gun ownership has declined, gun rights is at an all-time high. The NRA's Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre appeared on Lou Dobb's show to discuss the Obama AR-15 ammo ban, and we have one more week to submit comments to the ATF to tell them this ban is a worthless idea. Please invest 15 seconds to fill out this simple form and contact your elected officials: www.NRAILA.org/STOPBATFE. Finally, this week's Good Guy with a Gun segment brings us yet another successful self-defensive use of a gun story. The full video is embedded here: In many ways, this was predictable. Obama has said on multiple occasions that he will bypass Congress at every turn in order to get things done. This is a result of his inability to negotiate with Republicans and get things done. Sure the Republicans are fighting him on almost everything, but what exactly was Obama thinking, that he'd say something and everyone would just say "sure, let's do it!" The ATF has proposed banning "green tip" M855 ammo, which they are trying to classify as "armor piercing" and a threat to law enforcement. How many crimes have been committed with green tip ammo? Zero. ZERO. 0. 00. 000. It's all the same no matter how it's spelled out. It's your typical solution in search of a problem. Green tip is cheap and common since the steel core costs less than lead and other metals. This ammo ban is a way to basically jack up the price of other ammo, thereby making it more expensive and more difficult for folks to shoot their guns. I made a video below if you'd like to hear more, but MOST IMPORTANTLY, head to www.NRAILA.org/STOPBATFE and contact your elected officials to put a stop to this ban. |
