Ep. 2 | Live your own Truth: Apple CEO Tim Cook comes out as gay

10/30/2014

Comments

We should live life being proud of who we are. Gun owners, gay people, Christians, Muslims, Jews, Asians, African Americans, Latinos, and whatever other things you may be.

People will try and shame you, you can expect that. But be strong in your convictions and know that there are millions of people out there who will accept you for who you are. I love embracing differences since it's what makes people interesting.

Live your own Truth.

Photos: Shoot to Win party at Triple Aught Design

Triple Aught Design is an outdoor apparel company based here in San Francisco. They hosted my Shoot to Win book launch party and my guests had a wonderful time. It was catered by my friends at Stag Dining Group and I also had Smokestack BBQ catered in, a local favorite. The brisket was a big hit!

Guests received 15% off all Triple Aught clothing purchased that night, and I had a really fun time signing books for family and friends. Here are some highlights of the evening:

10 free copies of "Shoot to Win" at The Firearm Blog

The Firearm Blog has reviewed my new book for beginning marksman and they had great things to say about it:
Shoot To Win reads like a gun manual with a broader scope – it is a handbook covering the necessary basics for entering the shooting sports, but not reaching past them. As a bridge between non-shooters and the shooting community, I think it accomplishes its goal: To provide a non-threatening, up-to-date, introduction to the shooting sports as a whole (including “scary” tactical rifles and action shooting sports, which are treated as being just another aspect of the gun world by the author).

I would recommend Shoot To Win as a gift for potential new shooters, or as a handbook for the novice who feels a bit overwhelmed.
Head on over to read the full review and to enter the drawing for a free book! I think they are drawing tomorrow, so hurry!!

White Collar "Gun Shaming" | NRA News Commentators

10/22/2014

Comments

When I worked in corporate America, I oftentimes felt uneasy when the topic of guns came up at work. That's because it normally wasn't someone saying "I went to the range today" but rather some commentary/attack such as "The shooting yesterday was really horrible, we should get rid of all guns."

When you're at work, your professional relationships with co-workers is really important, especially if you work on a team. Do you stay silent? Or defend your gun ownership by making a clear distinction between someone like you who uses guns in a lawful way and the crazy people who illegally use them?

Worst case scenario is you get reported to HR for potentially scarring an employee, and so that's a real consideration. However, I found that by speaking my mind in a calm, respectful manner was oftentimes productive. I had a good working relationship with many colleagues, and I was amazed at how many of my colleagues were actually gun people!

It's important to live your own truth, staying silent only empowers the shamers. Here's my latest NRA News Commentators video on this topic:

"Shoot to Win" on Dana Loesch Radio

A few days ago I was in studio with Dana Loesch on her radio show promoting my new book "Shoot to Win." Dana is a gun gal and she's got her own book coming out soon called "Hands off my Gun" and I'm excited for it come out.

We chatted about my story of how I trained to win Top Shot, and how the book is my contribution to the gun community where I want to encourage more new shooters to join this wonderful sport and exercise their rights.

Dana had this to say about my book: "It's a must-read if you want to improve your skill set. Take this book to the range!"

I had the pleasure of co-hosting Cam & Co on NRA News with host Cam Edwards. It was a ton of fun talking shop about Second Amendment issues, poking fun at silly things of the day, and promoting my new book "Shoot to Win."

I was on for the first half of the three hour show, and here it is for your enjoyment.
